Competition Deutsches Haus Cité Universitaire
Several nations built houses for their students in the Cité Universitaire on the site of the old city fortifications at the Parc de Montsouris. The spatial programme for the German house called for 100 student rooms, an entrance hall, a ballroom, library, common rooms and work rooms, a breakfast room and rooms for the administration.
In the design, the student rooms and ancillary rooms are arranged in three groups on the two upper floors. The access stairs begin in the hall of the 1st floor, the actual entrance floor, where the library, study rooms, common room and administration are also located. From this level, a ramp leads to the outside. The breakfast room and the ballroom are located on the ground floor - in relation to the outer terraces and green areas - and are connected to the communal rooms on the entrance floor via staircases at the sides.
