Extension Prinz Carl Hotel

The listed inn of a family friend in the centre of the historic village was to be supplemented by a bed room building. Consideration had to be given to the small-scale roof shapes, the façades of the half-timbered houses and the special feature of the small square to the east of the inn, which slopes down from north to south. Although the new building was to be connected to the old building, it was to be clearly a new building.

The design shows a bulkhead construction with an asymmetrical cross-section of the building: three storeys facing the square, based on the proportions of the old building, and four storeys facing the courtyard. The connection and separation are formed by a connecting structure in which the new hotel entrance and the corridors between the old and new buildings are located. The brickwork is plastered and painted white to match the surrounding buildings. All wooden parts are made of Oregon pine, the roof surfaces are covered with dark grey asbestos cement roof tiles. The balconies with their recessed flower pots and horizontal round wooden poles, which are intended to serve as trellises for climbing plants, are protected from the rain by a separate eaves roof made of corrugated asbestos cement sheets.
