Design Klöckner-Werke AG trade fair pavilion
The Klöckner Group wanted to build a permanent exhibition pavilion on the grounds of the industrial and trade fair in Hanover. The design shows an approximately 8.50 metre high central exhibition hall with two-storey, L-shaped wings, which are open to the outside on the ground floor and glazed towards the hall on the inside. On the upper floor of these wings are the rooms required for the various services during the trade fair, which are orientated towards the hall, i.e. towards the exhibition operations, and are fully glazed; light from outside enters through a narrow band of windows. The transparent ground floor with entrances from all four sides is purely exhibition space, which can be overlooked as a whole from the surrounding gallery on the upper floor. Only the cinema and internal staircase form two external corner blocks. The pavilion was to be constructed of steel and clad with sheet steel so that the company's own products could have been used to a large extent.
