Competition city library complex
The design shows a large hall covered by a grid of steel truss girders supported by four pillars. The main entrance is emphasised by a cantilevered canopy, which is the continuation of an internal gallery with the librarians' workstations. Under the gallery is the entrance area with book issue, book return and cloakroom. The actual library is divided into three zones by different floor levels: the central catalogue zone, the bookshelf zone and the study zone. The stacks are located in the basement. The free-standing tower accommodates not only the stacks and main gallery staircase, but also the transformer station, ancillary rooms and access for suppliers.
